Our Cambridge personal trainers are here to guide you every step of the way to reach your fitness goals.
At Gymteq we offer a range of different coaching options including small groups and one-to-one personal training. For those who want to follow an individualised training programme and work regularly with a coach on a one-to-one basis, personal training is the best option for you.
In personal training sessions, you will work with your coach in one of our performance pods. These pods contain all of the equipment required for your session:
A specialist para-performance pod is also available for our disabled members.
This kit is allocated for you for the duration of your session, meaning that you don’t have to share equipment with others or walk up and down crowded gym spaces. This means that you and your coach can make the most efficient use of your training time, as you never have to wait for equipment to become available or share equipment with other users.
Your personal training journey at Gymteq starts with an initial consultation with your coach. This session will begin with a discussion of your training goals, exercise history, injury history, relevant medical conditions and planned training frequency. From there, your coach will run through some simple movement screening assessments that are designed to identify any imbalances, mobility restrictions or movement compensations that you may have. The information gathered from these movement tests will then be used by the coach when creating your individualised training programme.
Next, the coach will take you through some specific tests that relate to your individual training goals. These tests will then be repeated at regular intervals to measure your progress towards your training goal.
The exact tests used will depend on your specific training goals. For example, if your goals were related to sports performance then a series of jump and sprint tests could be used, whereas if the goal was rehabilitating a knee injury, then the tests used would measure leg strength and thigh circumference and compare results to the uninjured leg.
Exactly how many sessions you do each week will depend on your training goals and weekly schedule.
Many of our members here at Gymteq choose to only participate in one-to-one training sessions, but you can also do a combination of personal training and group sessions. For example, some members choose to perform one or two personal training sessions per week where they focus on more technical strength work and complement this with a couple of group conditioning sessions, where working hard in a group setting can be both encouraging and enjoyable.
